Blog #2

Bacardi is a family owned spirits company, best known for rums like Bacardi Superior and Bacardi 151. The view in this ad is looking up from the ground surrounded by tall buildings that could be used as places of business. On the left hand side is a building with columns in front, like a court house. The bacardi is being poured out o cover up the images of the buildings. Inside the Bacardi is a women swimming in the ocean, it looks like a coral reef with bright colorful fish. The buildings are all the same color. The ocean is very bright and pleasing to the eye, and it spreads out onto the buildings. Where it touches the buildings the Bacardi transforms it into part of the reef. This ad could be saying that Bacardi will liven up the boring. If you drink Bacardi it will take you on your own personal vacation into a tropical paradise. The Bacardi is washing away the mundane of business life and replacing it with a relaxing, peaceful scene. Theres only one person in this scene, so that could mean that these peaceful effects are for you the drinker and no one else. The courthouse is there to represent the seriousness of the world, and the Bacardi is covering it all up to show that your day can be more fun if you drink Bacardi. The Bacardi is actually shooting up towards the sky, so its like the more you drink the higher you are elevated into a state of peace and happiness. The woman looks like she is headed for the surface, towards the sun. Its like, by drinking Bacardi, you are surfacing from the boring and the mundane, and continueing on as far as you can into the sky towards the sunlight.

  1. The swimmer is swimming upward as well as the view and the buildings which could also indicate that by drinking Bacardi one will move up in the world, and by moving up in the world one could afford trips to a secluded paradise or be a ceo in a huge company.
